What is Character? How does it relate to your health and fitness?

I just read an article from a great site and it sparked my thoughts on character.

I agree with the majority of this article. It goes in depth about the psychological ideas behind character and how it's often confused with personality.

My definition:

Charater is simply the way you handle yourself not only when you know you're being watched, but when no one else is around as well.


In the article there is refrence made to a very popluar book called  How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

I havne't read the entire book, but I have read enough to understand that it's more about "covering up" what you do, rather than becoming a better person.

Can you learn to trick people into liking you? Yes. Do you really want that? ... If you do, I would say you have some real work to do.

 

The link that I would like to present as it relates to health and fitness is quite simple...

 

You can't fool yourself!

If you really want to level up your fitness or health, you'll have to really want to change something FOR YOURSELF. That means digging deep inside yourself and exploring EVERYTHING... The good, the bad, and the ugly.

You're going to have to except yourself, and then make real pointed effort at changing the things you find unacceptable. You will have to set specific goals to achieve. You will have to give yourself time constraints so you have accountability and consistency. You will have to MAKE TIME out of your busiest of days to work on yourself. Working out just 3-4 days a week can help your body,  BUT YOUR MIND IS A 24 HOUR, 7 DAYS A WEEK PROJECT! If you want real behavior and thought process change, you have to be mindful all the time.

Maybe one of the hardest things you'll have to do is let go of negative habits, substances, or PEOPLE! When you make lofty goals for yourself you'll find many distractions. AND MANY NAY SAYER! Toxic people suck. Get rid of them!

This may seem like a difficult task, but it's worth it.

Don't try and mask your issues. Try and change them.
